Friends and Organisations
Height Gate is great place for Friends and Families and Organisations to visit. We have previously hosted artists residencies and workshops, wellbeing getting aways along with family and friends get togethers. Height Gate is situated within a community of residents and SHOULD NOT be used for the purpose of holding parties that would involve significant numbers of people arriving at random times, loud music or excess cleaning.
We welcome groups who wish to enjoy the natural beauty of the South Pennies and surrounding towns and communities. With many interesting places to visit nearby as well as great places to walk and cycle. Please see the Plan Your Visit section for more.
Schools and Youth Groups
Height Gate welcomes Schools and Youth Groups to come and explore the beautiful South Pennines. We have the facilities to accommodate groups of up to 32 with additional space to camp or sleep in our barn. We have a large barn which is great for indoor games and learning if the Yorkshire weather is bad. With around 4 acres of land we have plenty of space for games and activities outside.
We do offer a 20% discount to School and Youth Groups.
Guests need to being ALL of their bedding. We just have bunk beds without ANY sheets or pillows.
All groups need to take their waste and recycling home with them as we do not get a collection. This helps keep the costs down.

Facilities include a kitchen, well-equipped to cater for 32, with a large commercial 6-burner gas cooker, 2 fridges, freezer, microwave, toaster, kettles and plenty of pans, crockery, utensils and cutlery.
There’s a communal lounge and a large indoor barn for activities. There is one shower that is situated in an accessible wet room and toilet and 2 blocks of toilets.
Outside there’s a fire pit, campfire area, a field for games or camping and parking for 6 cars. Heating is provided by a wood pellet and multifuel stoves. A good supply of fuel is provided and included in the price.

Dogs are welcome!! Just please don’t let them upstairs with dirty paws.
